So ... As you all know, I've been complaining about the enormous amount of trash generated by the building on the south east corner of 46th and walnut which blows everywhere and generally depresses me...
http://www.asc.upenn.edu/usr/cassidy/temp/2004/trash4.jpg Some of you were very helpful in finding out who owns the property -- thanks. Well, last week, I was shocked to see cleaning crews outside sweeping up! The next day, however, as you may guess, it was filthy again. If that wasn't bad enough, meandering through the piles of discarded clothes and watterlogged telephone books was a group of five men in their mid 20's armed with a slingshot, studiously shooting out the lights. I realized at that moment that the building needs more than occasional attention, it practically needs live-in groundskeepers. Which in itself is depressing, but coupled with the realization that the tennants, or at least a significant enough subset, simply throw their trash off of their balcony shook my faith in the neighborood. And this is to say nothing of the diaper tree out back.... In any event, I just got an email from an old girlfriend who talks about her wonderful new job and mentions: "I'm also the leasing manager for Stoneleigh Court which is that big building that's partly on your street." Synchronicity???! She goes on to say that the building is going to be completely renovated in the months ahead. I shall be sure to keep an eye on the trash situation now that I know where to complain! Kyle ---- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to the list named "UnivCity."
