This is not the only incident; there were others.

This was sent to me on 5/28: "We want to make you aware of an incident
that happened yesterday. A female medical student was robbed at gunpoint
at approximately 3:30 pm at 41st and Spruce Streets. We are obviously
concerned about this incident and are working with the Penn police. They
have increased patrols around the campus and although the police have a
description of the two perpetrators, they have not yet been caught."

Here are the details:

June 8 -- A female unaffiliated with the University was approached by a
male, who threatened her with a silver handgun and demanded her pocketbook
at about 1:03 p.m. on the 4200 block of Spruce St. University Police
responded and arrested the suspect immediately. The suspect was also
charged with possession of crack cocaine later in the day at about 8:41
p.m.

And, since UC has had several home building related thefts recently, this:

June 3-7 -- An unknown person took two paint sprayers, worth a combined
total of about $1,800, from the construction site at the Franklin Building
Annex at 125 S. 36th St. In a similar incident, a coffee pot and a
microwave, together worth about $180, were taken over the same time period
from a different office at the site.

June 6 -- An unknown person removed approximately 3,000 lbs. of copper
flashing worth about $20,000 from the construction site surrounding the
University Museum at 3200 South St. The incident was reported at about
6:45 a.m.
