Instead, he is also speaking for his Scout Troop, and, on a broader scale, for all Scouts in the public eye. His words and actions reflect back on his Troop and its leadership, ..., it was clearly inappropriate for his adult advisors to allow this notice to reach the public without careful review and a "tune-up." ...I also disagree with your notion that only those "who are close to Moses may try to tweak his speech and writing." ... If you speak in a public forum ... then you must expect public comment.

Not patronizing you, but fantastic response!

Moses as an Eagle Scout is the cream of Scouting. At that level excellence in execution is a reasonable expectation. People also forget about the chain-of-events created by their actions.

A similar concern about community input was posted previously.

We as a community have lost a
sense of community, and shared responsibility. ...

I regularly watch kids play ... I don't say anything, because I know that the parents will probably
react negatively. No matter how I approach the subject.

When I was growing up, the families on my street watched each others kids.

We don't know each other. We don't associate with people outside our small groups.
There is an underlying issue of race and class that makes interaction in our neighbor
hood more difficult.

In my mind this is what leads to most of the problems with communication ...

Just as Moses and his team are working to affect change in a community, they must be receptive to feedback from the community that they are affecting.
