I've always struggled to determine what is the emperor's and what is God's. I'd be interested in hearing how you and others on this list divide up the two. This comes up, using different terminology, in Buddhism as well. My take is that there really isn't much that is one's but not the other's.

Sojourners as many of you already know is a progressive evangelical Christian organization that advocates for social justice...whose main concern is the poor and the conditions of the world which keep them so.

If that is truly their mission, they should be above politics, or know when to separate the two. Perhaps, they would better serve us all were they to contemplate God's Holy Word:

In the closing of the Sojourner's flash presentation they say, "Tell America the Religious Right Doesn't Speak for You." The Sojourners fail to criticize the Religious Left for the same inappropriate "God speaks through the Left" zealotry. Oh, they missed Rev Al at the DNC? They didn't notice the national movement of liberal and black churches mounting get out the vote initiatives for Kerry?

While the Sojourners may not lose their nonprofit status for foisting their political opinion through a parody, they are disingenuous with their political sentiments. The close of their presentation refers us to www.takebackourfaith.org. Not surprisingly, the domain is owned and operated by the Sojourners. There is no arms length political activism for this progressive religious organization.

The other interesting coincidence is the Sojourners receive funding from a Tide Foundation entity. Tide is one of Theresa Heinz's favorite conduits for routing Heinz Foundation money to liberal causes, such as buying the Presidency of the USA. We stateside Christians and Jews still have reason to fear evil serpents slithering through the grass.
