The difference between a credit card and a chain saw is that, just by looking at a chain saw you can tell most of the ways that it's dangerous, and then you can make a pretty good decision about whether you want to use one or not, and how careful you want to be.
While "nasty looking," a chain saw, as with a Credit Card -- until you know how it works, the "not obvious ways" are the ones which will do the most damage.
An automobile is a much better example.
Most people consider them "benign despots." But it is nothing more than a 6000 pound "killing machine." Just look at the number of people killed and injured a couple of months ago when some character drove through the middle of a crowded shopping area in California because "he couldn't find the brake."
Henry Ford conned the country into believing that such things are "accidents" -- but the dead people are just as dead. There are more people killed EACH year by drunk drivers than have been killed in ALL of Americas "foreign interventions" in the past 10 years. [According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 17,401 people died in alcohol-related crashes in 2003 and alcohol was involved in 40 percent of all crash fatalities.] But because they are "accidents" nobody in the US gives a damm.
