OK. What's going on with the traffic island at 45th and Baltimore? I stood there for several hours today in the blazing sun attempting to figure out what the construction activity is designed for and failed to reach a conclusion.
For those who haven't seen it, they've dug a nice incision parallel to the hypotenuse. They've erased the bicycle lane on Springfield. They've torn out the trees. I can't for the life of me figure out what the point is.
Is this a last hurrah of the Big Nothing festival we've heard so much about this summer? Is this some surrealist earth artist's idea of a good time? Are there sinister forces at work? Is it the Presbyterians again or the Young Republicans? Is Penn relocating the Biopond again?
