Please join CCJ in these last weeks before the voter registration
deadline to register voters in Philadelphia neighborhoods on a
non-partisan basis.  Through our national partner, the USAction
Education Fund, we have registered over 20,000 new voters in
underrepresented communities since mid-spring.   Your help NOW will help
us reach 30,000 by the end of the month.

Please share with us your success. What communities do you work in and in which states? I assume that your success is not exclusively in Philadelphia. Please break out your numbers by party affiliation, sex, and race.

The USAction Fund has a reputation for targeting young people, people of color, low-income people and gays and lesbians If Jeff Blum is still its executive director, he has established a liberal track record, including working against President Bush's tax reduction programs. An article in 'The Hill' dated March 17, 2004 described USAction as follows:

Fueled by unlimited anonymous contributions, self-described nonpartisan charity groups are launching ambitious programs to register hundreds of thousands of new voters in key battleground states this year. Most of the groups are traditionally allied with Democrats.

Five large liberal-leaning charities interviewed by The Hill said they plan to register upwards of 5 million new voters through registration programs that will cost millions of dollars.

The organizations are: USAction, People for the American Way, the Center for Community Change, the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project and the League of Conservation Voters.

I have no problem with you engaging in the lawful registration of those who are entitled to vote, in this great nation of ours. However, you are disingenuous, when you allege you are non-partisan, your progressive agenda is not disclosed, and it is not shared by one of our two major parties. It is a violation of the spirit of the law, when a 501(c)3 is targeting areas that will be rich in Democratic registrations to the exclusion of other parties. This is a variation of suppressing the vote. The Democrats accuse the Republicans of the same practice.

If you do not have pride in what you are doing, why are you not forthright? Perhaps you know you are violating Federal Election Commission disclosure requirements and IRS regulations for tax-exempt organizations.

Aint politics great?
