Please do not blame Papa John’s ® etc. Pizzeria.
Blame it on the fact that these businesses do not know that people of non-color are living in those areas. (i.e. west of 49th St. and/or South of Baltimore Ave.)
When the word gets out, the delivery boundaries shall change. Take heart.
Your neighbor,
Wilma
PS. I know from years of struggle.

Subject: Redlining, Pizza Delivery and Papa Johns
I just wanted to let people know that I have tried at different times to order Papa Johns' pizza and was told that they didn't deliver beyond 46th street. I accepted this and drove to their 40th & Chestnut store to pick up our orders. At the time it rubbed me a little that perhaps this was another form of discrimination and so made me more sensitive to the fact that the neighborhoods that are deemed undesirable by businesses, especially franchises like Papa John's, WaWa, and even Citizen's bank (I challenge you to find an ATM machine between 49th street and their Penrose shopping center branch.)
Anyway this all would have remained a slumbering issue, when I saw a Papa John's delivery being made on my block, i.e. 4800 Beaumont Ave. I stopped the delivery person and asked if they now delivered to this block. He assured me that they now delivered to 49th street. I called PJ's to have our first delivery when I was told....We don't deliver there. I told him what the delivery person said and in fact they had delivered to a house on my block. The man on the phone asked me who the delivery person was. This is pretty insulting as if I should know who the delivery person was so that they could get their information straight. The man then got off the phone to ask the manager. He got back on the phone and stated again that they do not deliver there. I told him I would report him to the Better business bureau. I wanted to know if anyone else has had these types of experiences with Papa Johns. I found them to be rude on top of their descriminating practices. Business keep doing these kinds of things because they know they can get away with it.
