Ditto.  For me, the random sounds of violence are the worst part of
living in West Philly.

I truly do not understand why y'all keep going on about this. When we moved here from Manhattan, West Philly seemed like some veritable rustic Garden of Eden. It was eerily quiet -- almost too quiet at first. We marvelled at how we could walk around and encounter no other living human beings for miles. On the sidewalks that is. Plenty of zombies driving around in they AUTOMOBILES. And the folks we did encounter actually looked us in the eye and SMILED at us. WHOA! How freaky was *that*?
 
After 19 years in the hood, I sleep like a baby almost every night. Occasionally I hear some crashing and banging, but I figure it's just Cassidy clashing garbage can lids together to try to get some attention.
