an interesting site. In addition to the missing pictures, I found it odd that the login page isn't encrypted (httpS:// versus http://), allowing for hackers a better chance at finding a valid password. I hope it's just a page of results but if so, then why require password access to begin with?
After some quick digging I learned more about Philly's voting machines: "Philly's purchase decision was a nightmare--it was long and controversial. Many people pointed out that they were buying yesterday's technology and that they should wait for newer DREs. They didn't." Quoted from:

Apparently the same company that makes Craftsman tools made our voting machines (Danaher). I wonder if the voting machines are equiped with the same laser guides as the Craftsman circular saws...if so, FOLKS PLEASE DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE LASER! I'd hate to see any election day injuries (even if you're planning to vote for that Cheney guy).
From the software manufacturer's site: "After the polls close, the Guardian software controls the collection of election results, then produces reports in flexible, custom formats." I wonder how much "flexibility" and "customizations" there are in the report formats...I'd be willing to offer my computing assisting in "customizing" their final report...I'd be plenty objective...on a more serious note I'm curious about this: "Minimizes under-voting" and "Eliminates over-voting". I assume they mean you can't vote for two candidates (over-voting) and that there will be fewer hanging-chads...

The Philadelphia City Commissioners, Voter Registration Office is too busy sending out their "Official Election mail, Authorized by the US Postal Service" to worry about their legal responsibilities to send out Absentee ballots.
For the first and only time in recorded history (and probably in all future history as well), the City is telling each individual voter where their polling place is located. They are also requesting the Post Office to forward this mail if the addressee has moved, not requesting that they be informed that the individual no longer lives there.
On the surface, this is a wonderful and very civic thing to do -- except for the fact that it has never been done before and will never be done again!
Of course, if our City Commissioners fail to send out similar post cards for next Spring's primary, we can haul their buts before Commonwealth court and get them impeached for failing to follow the same election law they followed in 2004.

Interestingly, they have the results for the 2004 General (Unofficial) Election Results available, if you have a password. ... of course, whoever did their web pages simply has no clue what they are doing. None of the images load because they didn't bother to specify the URLs correctly. One has to wonder why the City Commissioners have this bootleg website instead of using their official City website:
