Wow, Scott really knows his stuff!
Having lived in places that used one or the other (grew up with oil heat) I agree with the whole having to have the extra tank, the smell, etc. There is also the ... It's the middle of winter, we're had a storm, low on oil and the company can't deliver ... or the oil company just isn't coming out. Those types of stories, of people signing contracts and paying for oil delivery and never getting it are usually on the news at least once or twice every winter. Gas heat is IMO much better, even with the cost of heat. I think? it ends up evening out depending on how much oil you use, the cost per gallon vs. what the gas company is charging. Biggest downside to PGW that I can think of right now? Don't forget to pay your bill on time. They'll shut your service off if it's late. Depending on the house and the condition of the chimney, you may have to get that relined before you can get a new heating system. That just happened to a friend of ours. Wendy |
