Assume the sender did as intended and if you feel the sender's posting really should be shared then you can either send it out yourself or ask the sender to post it to the list. Personally I like replying to the sender directly when I don't feel what I'm saying needs to be posted to the list.

At the same time, when I was a grad student I learned that a particular faculty member "hated" me when he accidentally replied to an entire list....fortunately for me he had already marginalized himself in the department through other egregious acts against members of his lab and the department.
Well, maybe then there should be a note cause I keep getting messages off list in response to something I've said and I'm not sure if they're meant for off list or if it was a mistake.
Any suggestions?
