Mark, Thanks for posting this, but so what?
Act 46 which passed in 1996 (eight years ago) ruled against The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers (PFT), which allowed the Takeover by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and ALSO forbade The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers from ever striking. This State Law applies to one, and ONLY one School District in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and I feel it is unconstitutional and unfair. Suburban School Districts can still strike for higher wages and better benefits, and have done so and earn significantly higher wages than we in do Philadelphia and have done so for quite a while. If Philadelphians have already let this wolf at the door (AND with gusto, I might add), why complain about a State Law that pertains only to Philadelphians now? Do not lock the barn after horse has gone out.
