What excuse will John Street use now to try to close all those fire companies? He was offered money from Council to keep them open. Now Tom Ridge of Homeland Security has offered the money to keep them open.
PA Awarded Eight Federal Firefighter Grants
Dec 7, 2004 11:03 am US/Eastern PHILADELPHIA (AP) Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge has announced 224 grants to fire departments throughout the United States in the 24th round of the Fiscal Year 2004 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
Included in the announcement are awards for eight communities in Pennsylvania, including grants to Parker, Saegertown, New Brighton, Oaks, Canton, Throop, Johnstown, and Elderton.
Ridge has also announced $53.8 million in grants to Pennsylvania and $33.8 million in additional urban area grants to Philadelphia and Pittsburgh to fund first responders and support state and local resources.
