If you depend on SEPTA to get to
and from work, school, doctors' appointments, social activities, etc you should
be concerned about the service cutbacks and fare increases being considered by
the company.
The problem, of course, is quite complex and what is being termed a crisis has a lot to do with the way state funds are allocated to this vital public transportation system. However, the actions being considered by the SEPTA Board of Directors will create hardships for many Philadelphia residents and won't resolve the situation. While they may be intended more to force the State Assembly and the Governor to take appropriate action, the people who depend on the buses, trolleys, and trains will bear the brunt of the political dispute â at least in the short term. A protest is being organized to let the people be heard. If this is important to you, it is important that you participate â and not just figure that someone else will do it for you. Meet other protesters at 15th & Market at 2 pm on Thursday (12/16) and walk with the group to the Board meeting at 1234 Market St. Always at
your service and ready for a dialog, Al Krigman |
