Wishful thinking.

The system used to report crimes is NOT limited to universities - remember the attempt by Penn to say that a crime on one of the sidewalks outside their buildings was NOT on campus? - but also to the main police.

The suspect has not been caught for that specific crime, so there has been no pleading down yet (the man who was shot in the face - he willingly gave up his items and they shot him still - I would imagine as he plead not to be shot).

I know of specific other crimes that do not show up on the blotter. The problem is systemic, and, unfortunately, probably not going to change anytime soon (have you ever asked a police officer "Officer, what's going on here?" - recall the evasive response?).

Funny how what we'd seen as "man robbed and then shot in the face" is only
reported by the almanac as "robbery".

That's probably just what it was plead down to. In exchange for doing 50 hours of community service and the shooter admitting he was wrong and very, very sorry the poor overwhelmed justice system doesn't have to go to the trouble of a trial.
