East Kentucky Power Cooperative, one of the nations largest generation and
transmission co-ops, announced plans Wednesday for a 278-MW coal-burning
power plant Smith 1 that will create a new market for up to 1.2-mil tons of
coal annually. The plant will be built at the Clark County, Kentucky, site
of a baseload coal project
