And this is one of those times when I agree with Melani.
I read this article, and my first thought was "40th and Pine. Isn't that an area where there are a lot of _students_?" Even if we take the standard Penn-student assumption (i.e., 40th street is the demarcation between Civilization and "Homicide: Life on the Streets," and the further south of Walnut, the better), the site of the assault is well within the areas most frequently populated by students.
And what do you know? Today's DP has a follow-up article which states, "The primary suspect is a white male in his 20s, clean shaven with brown hair, according to a source familiar with the investigation. The assailant was identified as someone the alleged victim recognized. The woman had been walking alone, and the man allegedly offered to walk her home."
