   First they sent
someone to give me a jump start, even though on the phone we decided that
   wouldn't do it

I called AAA and said, "My car won't start. It cranks fine, so it's
not the battery." Every time that they said, "You car won't start?",
I'd say, "It cranks fine, so it's not the battery."

Sure, enough, they sent a guy to jump start my car. When I told him
that the battery was fine, it cranked fine, it just wouldn't start, he
said, "Well, what do you want *me* to do about it? I'm not a
mechanic!"

I just checked, and Subaru offers roadside assistance, so when my AAA
runs out, I'm going to switch to Subaru.

One advantage of AAA - it covers you regardless of what car you are in
or who is driving. When my father's car got a flat in NYC, I just
called AAA from my cell phone and that was that.
