If you really want the market to sort everything out, why not eliminate government support of SEPTA, the interstate highway system, the gas tax, subsidies for airports and air security, state highways, the air traffic control system, and so on? Oh, and sell those parking spaces in front of your house while you're at it too, especially the shoveled ones. If users of all transportation systems had to pay to run them, maybe we could see if there is a social benefit to public support.
