hi,

i need to replace the stove in my kitchen, but the only gas shutoff valve
that i can find is on the end of the flexible hose--the end that attaches
to the current stove. i can't figure out whether it is safe to just rely
on that one when installing a new stove. there doesn't seem to be a valve
anywhere on the gas line in the basement, etc.

i'm wondering if other folks have had this issue and what they have done
about it-- am i going to have to deal with PGW (getting them to turn off
my gas temporarily)? i really hope not--dealing with them is always such a
nightmare. would a plumber be able to handle this?

thanks for your input,
sarah
