Either way - if you call the police (911) - it'll likely work out if they show up. More often than not I have seen the police help someone out like this in a bind if their story _is_ true. If their story isn't true then they are stinking liars and should be tarred and feathered and run out of town for doing society this disservice. -- Sam Nicolary > -----Original Message----- > From: Stephen Fisher [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Sunday, February 20, 2005 9:08 PM > To: Mayer, Ann > Cc: [email protected]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]/ > Subject: Re: [UC] RE: more "I got locked out" scamming? > > welp apparently she changed her story when she hit our block. now she's > > claiming to live on the next block over and came to our block looking > for the block captain because she said there isn't one on her block. > she said her gas got shut off and the gas company is coming back on > wednesday to turn it back on. however in the mean time she's heating > her home with kerosine and needs $16 for 2 kerosine tanks (one for the > upstairs and one for the downstairs). > > she introduced herself as rebecca edmunds and claimed to live at 1216 S. > > 46th St. she also claimed to have a car (apparently she had enough > money for gas). she was an older woman with a scarf around her head. > the splotches on her face she claimed were skin cancer and that she was > being treated with chemo. she is very well spoken and very much seeking > > sympathy. > > one of these days someone with a true story is bound to happen by > someone on this list. since it would be really sad for these scammers > to cause a person with a real problem the inability to find help, what > would be the appropriate number/agency to contact in these cases (a 24/7 > > phone number would be ideal)? > > thanks, > stephen > > > Mayer, Ann wrote: > > >I just came back from Center City and parked on 43rd near Osage.
