Either way - if you call the police (911) - it'll likely work out if they 
show up.  More often than not I have seen the police help someone out like 
this in a bind if their story _is_ true.  If their story isn't true then 
they are stinking liars and should be tarred and feathered and run out of 
town for doing society this disservice.
