so in response to Kyle and my block captain Fran, and as the owner of three new trash cans that are still in our posession, I thought I'd relay our own theft story.

A couple of weeks ago, i gutted our main bathroom in our apt to get it ready for new floors, tile, etc. a buddy was in from out of town and between him, my father-in-law and myself, we got a 6 foot, cast iron tub down three flights of stairs, all fingers intact. We put the tub on the side of the house as I needed to clear a spot in basement (from years of previous renters junk) for it and covered it with a tarp.

didn't even last 48 hours. I bet the scrap guys went nuts when they saw it (JACKPOT!!!).

Fran, I'm upset your gate got stolen. I'd imagine it went for scrap, not to dress up someone else's house.

And kyle, if you want to have a stake-out, let me know. I've a friend with paintball guns and am not a bad shot.

So ... You may remember that last month someone swiped the last of my trash cans -- emblazoned with my address. It had been taken a couple times before and I'd always found it in front of some neighbors house, stuffed with trash six days before trash day, but last month it seems to have gone far enough from home it couldn't find it's way back. Anyway, I went down to home depot and got two more. I was keeping these inside until trash day but the smell and the inconvenience, you know ... Anyway, I left them out by the side of the house on Tuesday and sure enough, one of them's was carted off last night.

Am I the only one this happens to??????

Foolishly, I hadn't had time to paint my address on these. So I guess you could try and say it was my own fault.

Gah.
