The following is what I
learned:
We are in Highway division 1 located at 48th and Parkside.
Replacing your sidewalk you will need a Streets Department Highway Division
Permit
and it is free of cost. You will be required to submit a sketch of entire
project
showing all
street furniture (fire hydrants, trees, benches, trash cans
etc.). The requirement for tree pits
is a standard 3' x 4' opening with
a clearence of 3' from any street furniture to provide for
wheelchair
access.
There is no follow-up from the city to check if the sketch you
submitted is accurate or not,
the city depends on the integrity of the contractor.
In the past there where City Highway
Inspectors who did follow-up but due to
funding cuts they no longer perform this function.
