Bill 070506 will have its hearing on Wednesday, June 6th, 11:30 AM, before the Committee on Public Property and Public Works. It reads as follows: Authorizing the Commissioner of Public Property to execute and deliver to the Philadelphia Authority for Industrial Development, for nominal consideration, a deed conveying fee simple title to an approximately 30,000 square foot triangular shaped parcel of City-owned land with buildings and improvements thereon, located at the southeast corner of Market and 33rd Streets in the City of Philadelphia, for further conveyance. This bill was introduced yesterday. The City Council website shows that it has no sponsors, and was not introduced by any specific member of Council. A check at Hallwatch shows that the only city-owned property on the 3200 block of Market is 3230-38 Market St. It's described as "Pub. Util. 1 Sty Masonry", 11,000 square feet, and had a market value of $396,000 as of March 1st, 2001. It was sold to the city in 1943 for a whopping four bucks. The zoning category is C-4.
