Melani and Karen, I'm not sure that the Big Universities and Big Landlords are all as organized as we give them credit. I think I've used the analogy before of hearing the old Black Panthers talking about "The Establishment" and how everyone and everything was united against them. When the Freedom of Information Act came thru we all found out how disorganized and ineffective the "Big Boys" had been (my sister was on someone's list as a subversive-- she just wanted to meet cute boys.) Sure the Universities want the development in UC to follow a certain path - one that makes it most desirable for what they think suburban parents want for their kids, but believe me, they don't really have a war-room and a master-plan that's being followed. But I can say that they are smart enough to understand that THEIR version of the NID/BID is troubled and , with these new Fenton/UCD developments, that their chances of getting neighborhood support might be dead. My thoughts are to go to them and explain that they can hold out for FULL control of a NID that never happens or they can support a community CID/NID that does happen..... it might even help to show them that we have John Fenton.... otherwise they have to deal with the fall-out of having to let him go and have neither Fenton nor their NID.
