Al,

Do you think $74,000 is an outrageous overpayment because:

1. she's an employee at a community non-profit.

2. she's an employee at a community non-profit that in your view shouldn't be doing marketing anyway and thus should save itself $74,000.

3. she hasn't been very effective at PR and marketing and that for $74,000 UCD should be able to pay for someone who can sell the BID to its worst enemy (which is what REALLY good PR might be able to help with considerably, and which costs about 4x $74,000).

4. $74,000 is an outrageous amount to pay for someone in a marketing leadership role in a major east coast metropolitan area.

Please feel free to select more than one option or to add another. I've read your citations of those so many times, and I'm interested to better understand your assumptions here.

Thanks for any insight that you care to provide.

Mark Bowerman

No, I never quoted John's salary at UCD to anyone. That was in the DN's
article by Bob Warner. It was "public" information, however, in that it was
listed on UCD's IRS Form 990.

I've frequently quoted the $74,000 flackette's salary because I think she's outrageously overpaid, a situation that reflects the self-serving nature of
the UCD upper echelons and is one of the many reasons to be wary of the
organization as it seeks to support its activities through a surtax levied on property owners. John earned every penny he got; from the standpoints both of the work he did and the results he achieved, he probably deserved more. When he
runs for councilman-at-large next time around election, he'll get more.

Al (get the facts straight) Krigman
