We came home a month ago from vacation to an unexpectedly severely matted long-hair 12 year old cat. Given the well-known temper of Simcha, our local cat expert friends all told us that even if they had shavers and grooming tools they wouldn't touch her. Our vet gave us two referrals, neither panned out.
Finally Cindy Miller recommended Queen Village Dog and Cat Grooming to us, and they said they'd give it a try. We were expecting every stereotype of a hysterical screaming scratching pussy cat, and truthfully anticipating a trip to a vet who would sedate her to groom her. Instead, while Rie and Lou did have to hold tight at times, she melted for Lou, and wound up purring. Lou (short for Louise maybe?), Flo and their other staff have been doing this for 35 years. They love the animals and that was so clear. We were blown away by the skill and care, the specific specialty tools and blades depending on which part of the body, difficulty of the knots and matts, the incredible knowledge but also the sixth sense that Lou showed towards Simcha, anticipating her moves, concentrating and listening and being with her to get at not just the matts but the very overgrown undercoat, without a scratch or a bite. (and for people who knew them a while ago, they are non-smoking now). Just a really good experience, that's all. Wanted to share.
