If adults present alcoholic beverages as something that children should never even be in the same room as, then the children will grow up with unhealthy attitudes about alcohol. I suspect such children are actually more likely to grow up to have problems with alcohol abuse, because they think it's something "bad" and as a result will do stupid things with it when they're in their teenaged rebellious phases that everyone goes through.
