Kevin Gillen, a real estate statistics expert who was quoted extensively in today's Inquirer article, is a friend of mine, and he gave the reporter my name, suggesting that I could give her background information about the relationship between Penn and its surrounding neighborhoods, and about the increasing housing demand in University City. So the reporter called me and we were on the phone for 45 minutes. I was not at the ground breaking for the luxury apartments being built now, and I know nothing about them. I'm no expert on population, either. I did say that the demand for housing - both rental and sales - is higher than I've ever seen it, though I've lived here since 1971 and sold real estate here for 24 years. I think I speak and write better than readers would guess from that "quote," so I'm embarrassed to see it.
