Wilma,
Yes indeed, that is a very excellent point! Check
this out. This was in the UC Review:
"'I wanted to get it de-listed to have greater
choices,' explained Lussenhop of his motion to rescind
designation. 'But once I realized the sentiment of
the historical committee and neighborhood, I said
fine...'"
Either Mr. Lussenhop is doing some serious
astroturfing or this "neighborhood" character was
involved since before the de-listing request which was
turned down on July 13!
Then in the last paragraph of the article:
"In a letter. committee chair Barry Grossbach stated
that, while the committee has met with Lussenhop,
'there is no zoning application on file for this
property'"
I wonder if Barry knows who this character,
"neighborhood," is. Barry is the only known person to
have met with Lussenhop based on the news report.
I just wonder when exactly did SHCA and UCHS first
learn about this hotel plan? They would have
certainly, immediately, let the larger real
neighborhood know; had they known Lussenhop was asking
to get permission back before July 13, which would
have permitted demolition? Am I not correct about
this??????
hmmm... there ought to be a word for pre-astroturfing -- a
word that would convey the process whereby a neighborhood is
depicted as having agreed about something before that
neighborhood has actually even heard about it...
retroturfing? pre-seedural? cytoblasting?
premature endosperming? ???
