Hi there

When you say the computer won't start ... do you mean it won't turn on? or
it turns on and then shuts itself down? Do you get post when it will start
up? Not starting could be: a clogged or loose power button connection, a
psu going bad, a mobo going bad, the cord not being plugged in tight enough
or the outlet. If it's the mobo, that, imho, is the worst. A psu you can
replace yourself, same with getting a new power cord. I'd crack the case,
get a can of compressed air and blow out all the dust from inside and get
the nozzle between the front bezel (if it won't come off - most do) and try
to get any dust that will get collected out of there. It could be that
simple. Safe mode is a good thing to know - I use it when doing my "deep"
scans or when uninstalling drivers, etc. But you shouldn't have to go into
safe mode just to get the computer to start up.

Computer Geeks I've never heard of ... you don't mean BB Geek Squad do you?
I had 1 experience with them and it wasn't good. First mistake - trying to
go cheap and buying an eMachine. Second mistake, having it delivered to BB
for pickup (who knew it was so far away by bus!), third mistake, having Geek
Squad open and test ... they completely missed what was apparently a bad
batch of mobos. Got the thing home, fired it up, got 3 beeps. That means
memory problem.

As far as security camera systems, I wouldn't even know where to start, I'm
just not tech savvy.

Did you buy the camera system and the computer from the same company?
Computer name/specs/os might help if there is someone here on the list who
knows their stuff.

Good luck!

Wendy
