UC: ??? Interesting point which suggests two corollaries: ??? ?? 1.? Some people would change positions to support or opposition if the building had a different intended use - residential, classroom, or yoga - but was in the same location and had the same size.? ?????? 2.? You can't compare the proposed building to any existing building, because no existing building has the same location, use and size. ?? ??? 3.? (this isn't a corollary).? And if the proposal was moved to the lot on Walnut Street, would people change positions?? I think the question is useful because it helps clarify why people are in favor, opposed or don't really care.?

I keep wondering, when folks point to any tall residential building in the neighborhood, and compare that to the tall COMMERCIAL building being proposed -- is that a fair thing to do? a useful comparison?? ? also, every reason that's given to justify this proposed hotel would equally apply if the hotel was planned for, say, the vacant lot two doors down from amy gutmann's residence on walnut street. would it be fair to consider that? would it be useful?? ? ie., it's not simply the height, or the size, or the use, or the location of the proposed hotel which is at issue, but the height AND the size AND the use AT THAT LOCATION which is at issue.? ? so let us stick to the real question, the real proposal.? ? does that sound fair? useful?? ? ..................?
