Philadelphia Inquirer, February 22, 2008

"...the developers identified the high-visibility corner as a good choice for
an extended-stay hotel, aimed at serving out-of-towners who visit the West
Philadelphia hospitals for outpatient treatment. The developers planned to tear
down the house and replace it with a five- to seven-story hotel..."

Neighbors,

It was near the end of the meeting. I believe it was the young man with the
baseball cap.

I'll paraphrase what he asked clearly: Did you try to get permission to
demolish the mansion?

How many times did he repeat the question? He asked at least twice but I
thought three times. (I haven't managed the strength to listen to the audio of
that night, and I remember it was near the end of the three hours.)

I remember that Lussenhop finally answered "no" Is my recollection correct?

The thing is that the Inquirer story would suggest that a plan to demolish the
building had in fact been delivered to PHC. This must have occurred at the
June PHC hearing and was denied July 11th and called an attempt at
"de-listing" (reported in the initial UC Review article).

Unless my recollection is incorrect, there seems to be a rather serious
contradiction of facts being given. The Inquirer writer is wrong or Mr.
Lussenhop is in error?

Thoughts?
