Campus Apts, the real force behind the proposed Campus Inn (they're the ones
who've sent the "letter of intent" -- not their front-man, Tom Lussenhop),
is currently converting its building at 4300 Spruce into Condos.

A few photos serve to show the contempt with which this firm regards its
neighbors on this project.
    * The first of the photos shows the alley between the west side of 4300
Spruce and the adjacent building on Spruce Street. Campus Apts does not use
a chute to discard construction and demolition debris directly into a
Dumpster. The workers just throw the rubbish out of the windows and let it sit
in
the alley until they have a big enough load to remove. (Probably an L&I
violation, but I'm not a dime-dropper.) Note that the entrance to the
neighbor's
building is on the side, so the residents have to walk past the strewn trash
to
get into their homes. Also note that some of the trash ends up on the
neighbor's side, and that the fence was damaged when it was hit with a heavy
object
(see where it's bowed to the right near the cable reel -- empty, by the way,
but not removed) and Campus Apts has made no effort to repair it.
    * The second photo shows how they dug up the sidewalk on Spruce Street,
from the building to the curb line, and left it dug up, without providing a
safety barrier on the roadway for pedestrians to walk past the dirt-filled
hole. It's been this way for over two weeks. This may be another L&I
violation.

Is this indicative of what the neighbors near 40th & Pine will have to
endure for a year or so if construction starts on the "Campus Inn?"

Remember, you read it first here, on the popu-list
