Neighborhood Bike Works -

Dear Friends,

Hope you can come out and enjoy tomorrow evening with the Jubilee School and NBW watching some films in the park.

This Friday, the Scribe Video Center will be hosting its annual Street Movies series at Clark Park. The event is sponsored by NBW and the Jubilee School <http://www.jubileeschool.net>. It is scheduled to start at 8:30 pm and is listed to take place at 45th between Chester and Kingsessing. This event is produced in order to showcase issues important to NBW including environmental justice and green modes of transportation. Three of the movies being shown are:

/E-Waste/ by Ian Lynam <http://www.mediathatmattersfest.org/press/writeup%20on%20E-WASTE.pdf> An animated film illustrates the environmental and human damage caused by the electronic waste while offering solutions to this global problem. (USA, 2007, 1:41 mins) /Garbage Dreams/ by Mai Iskander <http://www.mediathatmattersfest.org/7/garbage_dreams/index.php?fs=about> Egypt's resident garbage recyclers, the Zaballeen, struggle as Cairo modernizes its waste disposal system.( Egypt, 2006, 8:05 mins)

/Green Guerrillas V.2: Food Clothes Shelter/ by Green Guerrillas Youth Media Tech Collective <http://guerrillagriots.wordpress.com/2008/03/21/green-guerrillas-blockumentary-v2/> Highlighting the latest in sustainable style, this excerpt from the Green Guerrillas' movie features the MOVE Organization, the West Philadelphia High School Electric Vehicle Team <http://www.penn-partners.org/evteam/>and the Ithaca's Peoples Garden Project. (USA, 2007, 27:30 mins)

These films will be followed by brief discussion panels. Some of the panel and members of the audience will be actors, producers and others involved with making these films. If you are not busy on Friday night this is a great opportunity to ride your bike and take in a sort of bike-in movie. The website <www.scribe.org>for Scribe Video Center <http://www.scribe.org> gives many of the details about the event and other events around the city.
