list. It DOES look like a cheap attempt to advertise. In the past, however,
I believe that you have agreed that the ID was required - and you have
certainly used yours.
At the Greater Philadelphia Assn of Realtors annual meeting last Friday, a PA
Real Estate Commission attorney told us that we DO have to identify ourselves
and our firms on the internet if we are "marketing." He prosecutes
licensees who don't identify themselves. And who's to say what could be
considered
"marketing?" If you or I or another Realtor speak up on the list about real
estate related issues (as Wendell McKenzie did), property issues, home care
issues, etc., where we have professional expertise, it's best to identify
ourselves as real estate licensees to be sure that we don't violate the law.
I
think it's always safer to disclose too much, than too little. To avoid any
possibility of violating the law, always use the ID info, according to the
prosecutor.
Here's a section of the guidelines:
GUIDELINE OF THE STATE REAL ESTATE COMMISSION

Given this age of electronic communication, the Commission developed this
Guideline to address communications and advertising via the web, e-mail and
other medium. ........
......4. A licensee using any Internet electronic communication for

discussion
groups, websites and bulletin boards, must include on the first page of all

b. the name of the firm with which the licensee is affiliated as that
firm name is registered with the commission (abbreviations are not
permitted);
c. the city, state/province, and *country in which the licensee’s
office is located; and
d. the regulatory jurisdiction(s) in which the licensee holds a real
estate broker or salesperson license (*including the licensee number).
* Although not required, recommended
