Citizens, Finally, the city paper is touching on Nutter’s propaganda technique, using fake science! This should be read by all Philadelphians. Note Econsult’s disclaimer before claiming the infamous limited conclusions:
“one never has good measures of all possibly relevant factors in any policy analysis” http://www.citypaper.net/articles/2009/04/16/mayor-michael-nutter-wage-tax-business-tax When individuals knowingly use fake science, they are engaging in deception, period! The use of fake science has become the pandemic which is killing democracy. It is a gambit which always assumes that the dumbing of America has been completed. It is assumed that criticism of the ‘science” can be deflected with ad hominem attacks and a dominating PR spin machine. We’ve seen this technique for a decade here in the Penn corporate district. (Recently, Wilma posted another example comparing public and private school achievement. Public schools had better results than for profit schemes masquerading as schools for poor kids. Sagaciously, the reporter noted that Edison corporation sponsored the contradictory study which evaluated 8th grade math scores only. Industry studies often “cream” the samples temporarily to commit their fraud.) Fake science is bold and despicable propaganda. It is not okay for leaders to use it as they guard the special deals for corporate cronies! It was also not okay for Nutter to point at the Praxis workshops and call the Penn budget, “the people’s budget.” Glenn, a citizen ---- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to the list named "UnivCity."
