Dear neighbors, I'd like to let you know about a garden perhaps a little bit north of center for some of us, but near us nonetheless:
http://sloanstcommunitygarden.wordpress.com/ This garden is a wonderful sanctuary for the residents of the Saunders Park neighborhood. For me (living at 41st and Baltimore) it was the closest place I could get a raised bed for vegetables and herbs! We have monthly work days / potlucks and all are welcome (please see the calendar on our website). All the plots are full this year but there tends to be turnover from year to year, so let us know if you're interested. There is also lots of sunny space for container gardening or helping out with the City Harvest beds. The land for this garden has not been secured, so it is always in jeopardy of being destroyed. We are trying to raise awareness, support, and funds to get it secured. Please come by the Clark Park market this Saturday, May 2 from 9am-2pm to see us at a special table we're setting up, sign our general petition there or online, and make a donation or purchase durable, reusable ChicoBags as part of our fundraiser.
