Thanks everyone. I used the information you provided to piece together again the original config of my router. It took some time. I had to be physically connected to the router to get to my linksys configuration screen. Of course when I found the config screen, I remembered what it was. I set it over six months
ago and forgot about it.  Thanks again.

My IP address turned out to be different than the default 192.168.x.1 where x was a different than "1", the default.
Help provided me with a forum for 192.168.1.1 "can not connect"
Suggested pinging the default address; if nothing happens than do
a config in CMD mode which displayed the correct address. I then put that in the browser and voila!
