In my neighborhood, I've never actually seen any of this type of stuff stick 
around long enough to still be there for trash pick up.  Shoot, we pulled long 
dead deep freezer with mummified food and other , uh, fauna, in it and someone 
asked if we were giving it away!  He was happy to take it away and we were hapy 
to not have to pay 30cents on the dollar to trash it.  

And there's always Freecycle. In my experience, pretty much anything has value 
to someone. Why bother with hauling your stuff around and paying to have it 
trashed when you can put a listing up on Freecycle and someone will yank it out 
of your basement for you?
