Dear listmates, I am on The Rotunda Community Advisory Board and I wanted to let you know about a wonderful event happening this weekend to benefit The Rotunda and celebrate its 10th Birthday. Unfortunately, several thousands of dollars of equipment was stolen from The Rotunda earlier this summer. I am sure most of you have attended a free or low cost event at this wonderful community hub in the past and you know what a gem it is. We hope to recoup the items lost so that we may continue to provide diverse, quality programming and events for many more years to come. Lots of planning has gone into the Birthday Party and so many community members have contributed to this effort; we will have a silent auction with art by local artists, a drum jam on the plaza, poetry, a full concert line-up, cake and raffles of prizes donated by many local businesses including a $1000 Paul Green School of Rock scholarship. There will even be a hug booth on Saturday night. The celebration will culminate with a film festival on Sunday featuring films with a Philly slant as Brendan Cooney of West Philadelphia Orchestra plays a live piano score to Buster Keaton and we will also screen short Clark Park films by our neighbor Brian Siano.
