Thanks Craig,
That is a good suggestion. I hope you and the public review the literature on "lawn treatments." These have been put on the park for several years and UCD has had many years to act in the public interest.
I tried to get information from Mr. Bryant in the past about the "worst offenders list" for trash tickets. I also requested information from UCD in the past regarding the "quality of life committee in Clark Park" Believe me Craig, UCD will not give any information to the public except through a legal challenge.
These lawn care products have been banned in many places. I saw the suggestion that these claims of safety may be a violation of federal law. The regulations to allow marketing do not require proper testing of these products. One current worry is neurological effects in humans. These products are not even required to test the various ingredients together! They may be toxic in very small amounts.
These treatment technicians are supposed to give their customers advance notice, as you saw in the complaints about the Trugreen company. Those little placards are a ridiculous notice for a public park because they are designed for the sidewalk on private property.
It takes many of these chemicals 48 hours to dissipate in nature. If you track them into your house without knowing they are on you, they can linger inside for years.
No one considered the difference between public parks and suburban homeowners. The vast majority of our neighbors had no idea that they, their kids, and dogs were in contact with the wet chemicals over all of these years of treatments!!
We need immediate public disclosure of every single chemical which UCD has paid to have spread on Clark Park since UCD started this in 2002 or 03! UCD has shown a complete disregard for the public's right to know about anything. I doubt their incompetent staff has anything other than some of the marketing literature from Trugreen. We have no idea if Trugreen works for UCD or for Moon. And they apparently don't know!
Remember this posted by Tony West:
"I talked with UCD Executive Director Matt Bergheiser, who in turn
On this issue they crossed the line!
