Clark Park neighbors,

While we allow reasonable time for some official statement from UCD and FOCP
about the “treatments” on Clark Park over the years, I’d like to update you.

I called Trugreen of Wilmington, which has been the subcontractor for Moon,
over the years. The boss called me back within minutes. It was obvious from
the pleasant discussion that the “wagons have been tightly circled.” (Jerry
was very polite and friendly.)

We are going to be told that Trugreen has NEVER put any wet chemical on Clark
park. As the product safety sheet indicates, this "organic" granular
fertilizer, GreenGro, is a DRY treatment. Officially, that is the ONLY
treatment ever used on Clark Park by Trugreen.

The official disclosure will be that the dry fertilizer treatment was performed
perfectly the other day. Amazingly, the driver, (the fenton) put the wrong
placards at the few sidewalks, instead of yellow placards to notify the public
about dry treatment. Of course, many of us know that this incredible placard
mistake has apparently occurred several times in the past, although the DRY
treatment itself is supposedly applied perfectly. (My question about the whole
history of the contract and treatments was clearly not expected. I did not
believe that Jerry had gone through the years of work orders in the minutes
before he returned my call.)

When I saw the treatment this week, the employee was placing the placard on
Baltimore. The machine was stopped on the sidewalk. I had Sam and I
immediately left Baltimore Ave to avoid exposure to him, and posted the warning
to the list. (I am sorry that I didn’t immediately get details from the
employee, but I had to leave home and never expected this type of denial.)

Anyone who has seen the warning placards or actually seen the spraying over the
years should prepare themselves! I think our neighbors would like FOCP board
members and others to come forward and tell the truth about your experiences.
(It may be difficult and you may have personal attacks against your character.)
Remember the old line, “the truth will set you free!”

What I saw looked like a spraying machine, not a machine to spread dry grains.
Two hoses come together in the front of the machine into an apparent spraying
rod. I have also seen the wet treatment warnings in the past. And other
neighbors have had experiences at the actual time of the treatments. Then of
course, there is the actual physical condition of the park, which contradicts a
history of only dry fertilizer.

Dandelions once thrived in the park , as they always due when poisons are not
applied. (Tony can mock my spiritual beliefs about the sanctity of life as he
pleases). Also, the grass itself is sick. It's sick where the grass is thick,
so the issue is not overuse. The grass is weak, with weak roots, and I believe
the color is wrong. (FOCP is currently preparing actions against park users
for overuse of the park, and this should not be allowed to confuse discussion
of other grassy areas.)

Please, if you have ever seen the treatments actually applied in Clark Park or
seen the placards, share your experiences. It’s up to us to get to the truth
about these treatments! After the usual long UCD delay, my conversation with
Jerry of Trugreen foreshadows the brief official statement we can expect from
UCD.

Sincerely,
Glenn
