Dear neighbors,
Wed. night the new executive director of UCD came to the invalid FOCP
elections. Try not to hurl your breakfast--He gave a speech about his
commitment to "transparency."
When I asked for an open office policy, I told him that I want to investigate
the poison put on Clark park over the last several years. (I held up one of
the poison warning signs left at a recent spraying of chemicals in Clark Park.)
Well, all the transparency bullshit ended, as both he and the FOCP president
claimed that the question has been answered. ("safe dry organic fertilizer")
Many of our neighbors are fully aware that unknown chemicals have been sprayed
on Clark park for years. Because the safety of these chemicals have been
questioned and green policies are hip, even among the anointed; the typical
silence and cover-up is called "transparency."
Neighbors, what are we going to do about this cover-up?
My pal, Craig, suggested that we start by invoking the PA Right to Know Law. I
think it's past due that West Philadelphians ask themselves if they are going
to continue to allow Penn/UCD a free pass while they treat us like completely
helpless idiots. Those who have not seen the spraying in Clark Park, but
believe that dandelions mysteriously died out on the Penn campus and Clark Park
on their own, need to stop the positive thinking and wake the hell up!!
If you have ideas for action, please post these on the public list. We have
power in numbers! Power to the citizens of West Philadelphia!
Stay safe,
Glenn
