Doofus Carlton Williams and his "guilty until proven innocent" policy in
the news.

Neighbors, the entire parks and recreation system is going to be
commercialized! Clark Park is a pilot study for commercialization as
well as privatization.
"That's when one faction went to the mattresses. Some were horrified
when they heard that Rosen might bring a food stall to the heart of the
park, plus advertising and the occasional closure of 18th Street for
special events."

Some people don't understand that all of the money being used to
redesign Clark Park is TAX PAYER MONEY. The fountain, etc., will always
require a maintenance budget from the taxpayers, while rec centers are
going to be closed and regressive taxes imposed.
This is one reason the UCD plan has always been unpopular here. The
city pays and Penn controls!
See how it works:
"The park is under the control of the Fairmount Park Commission.
Executive director Mark Focht tells me that the city pays for such
things as water and electric, maintaining the fountain, snow and trash
removal, most pruning and trimming of trees. One full-time Fairmount
Park staffer oversees the park during the week and another works the
weekend.
The Friends fund their own employee from April to October and pay for
all of the turf moving, lawn mowing, private landscaping, mulching,
flower planting and maintenance of the benches."
