Hi, All,

The Salvation Army and Drexel University seek volunteers during a two-day event
on Friday, May 21st and Saturday, May 22nd to help pack nutritious meals to
send to the earthquake victims in Haiti at the State Armory at Drexel
University, located on 33rd Street between Market and Arch Streets. An army of
volunteers, totaling more than 5,000 strong, are needed to help assemble and
package nutritious meals targeted to help the immune system of malnourished
people. Individuals (11 years of age and older), families, and corporate,
school, church, and community groups are encouraged to volunteer as meal
packagers for at least one two-hour shift. Each packing station consists of 14
volunteers.

Volunteer teams and individual volunteers are being recruited for the following
2 hour shifts:
Fri., May 21: 12 - 2 p.m.
Fri., May 21: 2 - 4 p.m.
Fri., May 21: 4 - 6 p.m.
Fri., May 21: 6 - 8 p.m.

Sat., May 22: 9 - 11 a.m.
Sat., May 22: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Sat., May 22: 1 - 3 p.m.
Sat., May 22: 3 - 5 p.m.

The cost to buy, package, ship, and deliver each life-sustaining meal -- which
consist of rice, soy protein, freeze-dried vegetables, and 21 vitamins and
minerals -- is only 30 cents! Once delivered to Haiti, the meals will be
distributed by Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services teams on the ground
there. The Salvation Army has had a presence in Haiti since 1950, and currently
operates schools, clinics, a hospital, feeding programs, children's homes and
church-related activities through 60 corps community centers across the
country. When your packaged meals arrive in Haiti, the Salvation Army will
make sure the meals are distributed effectively and to the right people.
Please consider joining the army of volunteers for this vital project.
