As the oil giants line up for more environmental waivers in the Gulf of Death, I see that the taxpayers will need to pay Wall St. (with interest) if their drilling waivers and leases are taken back.

Government's early response, May 23, 2010:

Well, Woody's ghost came to me last night, and asked me to update his song for the US plutocracy:

This oil is your oil, this oil is my oil

From the Wall St boardroom, to the halls of Congress

From the LA smog bowl, to the blackened song birds

This oil was made for you and me

As I was watching, the fascist news shows

I saw the endless, stream of bullshit

I saw below me, a dying goddess

This oil was made for you and me

This oil is your oil, this oil is my oil

From the Wall St boardroom, to the halls of Congress

From the LA smog bowl, to the blackened song birds

This oil was made for you and me

I've shut my eyes, and followed my cravings

To the sparkling fools gold, of the rich man's palace

And all around me, a voice was sounding

This oil was made for you and me

(repeat chorus)

That oil came spillin', as my mind was dreaming

The pearls and diamonds, and the sound of drillin'

But the fog was lifting, a voice come chanting

That oil was made for you and me

(repeat chorus)

As the wars were killin' -- I saw a sign there

And that sign said -- Thou shall not kill

But on the other side -- there was nothing but death

Now that side was made for all of us

(repeat chorus)

In the parks of the city -- In the shadow of the District

Near the murdered neighborhoods -- I see my people

Locked in chain gangs- some are wonderin'

If this oil's still made for you and me

This oil is your oil, this oil is my oil

From the Wall St boardroom, to the halls of Congress

From the LA smog bowl, to the blackened song birds

This oil was made for you and me
