This op-ed about "Dynasty Trusts" shows more details of the completely
lawless/untaxed American aristocracy. (first link) The myth of an American
meritocracy is still a centerpiece of corporate propaganda and helplessly
believed by the middle class. Real meritocracy or class mobility in European
democracies, with a safety net, has been shown for a long time (this has never
been reported in the corporate media) while the vast majority of poor Americans
are forever trapped in poverty.

The juxtaposition of these NYT pieces mirrors the reality of America. (The
stop and frisk article would be overwhelming if more frisked individuals were
interviewed for the story.) 2nd link

"But tax breaks are not the only special advantages that dynasty trusts
provide. Even more troubling, they commonly include a “spendthrift clause,”
which provides that trust assets cannot be reached by a beneficiary’s
creditors. If a beneficiary causes a car accident, for example, the victim
cannot be compensated with assets from the trust, even if they are the driver’s
only resources. So beneficiaries are free to behave as recklessly as they like,
knowing that their money is forever protected for themselves and their heirs."

Almost everyone in the projects has a story. There is Jonathan Guity, a
26-year-old legal assistant with no criminal record, who, when asked how many
times he had been stopped in the neighborhood where he grew up, said,
“Honestly, I’d say 30 to 40 times. I’m serious.”
