I think many people feel the effects of this information. I wonder if this is the capitalism Americans believed we had?

I started reading the book that Chavez gave to Obama, "Open Veins of Latin America" (I'm glad that Gerardo gave us the correct title.) It appears that Chavez was trying to help the American people with this excellent gift to our leader!

I jumped to the history from WWII to 1971 when the book was published.

With his extensive research, Galeano shows how the corporate and banking domination had nothing to do with competition between these corporations or assistance to Latin America as claimed. It was ruthless neocolonial domination and the corporations worked like criminal cartels dividing up the treasure. (Galeano provides a great deal of specific data across many countries)

We saw an experiment in neocolonial techniques here in the district over the past 10 years. Working with a small bourgeoisie, willing to sell out the rest of the population, corporations and the various banking organizations ruthlessly transferred the wealth of Latin America to themselves and the vast majority of the populations suffered.

These corporate fat cats are ruthless dishonest people and they only care about their "capitalist manifesto" But the bullshit reminded me of the public/private partnerships being advanced here. The true goals have nothing to do with the claims for progress and assisting the people, when the deals are struck with the bourgeoisie to enslave the common people! It seems clear to me that the power of organized labor, as well as a slightly functioning republic, kept the US population somewhat protected while Latin America was raided by these corporations in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Those days are over!

What happened to our neighbors in the south is happening here now! They want a global oligarchy and not the capitalism many Americans believe in! We need to listen to the current democratic leaders from South America and take their advice!!
